Department for Asia-Pacific Studies
The Department conducts research on Asia-Pacific regional and country-specific issues. It analyzes developments in Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Indian Ocean, Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific island countries. It examines political, diplomatic, economic, security, and social-cultural developments in these regions and countries, as well as China’s relations with the countries concerned. The Department is also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Global Center for Mekong Studies (China Center).
